Concord: A Hero Shooter Launching August 23rd with a Robust Post-Launch Roadmap

Concord Season 1 Launches October 2024Sony and Firewalk Studios' Concord is set to launch August 23rd on PS5 and PC. Following a successful open beta, the developers have unveiled a detailed post-launch content roadmap, emphasizing continuous updates and a player-centric approach. Unlike many hero shooters, Concord eschews the traditional battle pass model.

No Battle Pass, Meaningful Rewards from Gameplay

Concord Season 1 Launches October 2024Firewalk Studios prioritizes rewarding core gameplay. Leveling up accounts and characters, and completing objectives will provide substantial rewards. This decision aims to create a rich and engaging experience from day one, without the pressures of a monetized progression system.

Season 1: The Tempest – October 2024

Concord Season 1 Launches October 2024Concord's first season, "The Tempest," arrives in October, delivering:

  • A new playable Freegunner character.
  • A brand-new map.
  • Additional Freegunner Variants.
  • New cosmetics and rewards.
  • Weekly Cinematic Vignettes expanding the Northstar crew's story.

An in-game store will also launch with Season 1, offering purely cosmetic items that won't affect gameplay balance.

Season 2 and Beyond

Season 2 is planned for January 2025, with further seasonal updates throughout Concord's first year. Firewalk Studios is committed to a consistent stream of new characters, maps, modes, story content, and features.

Optimal Gameplay Strategies: The Crew Builder System

Concord Season 1 Launches October 2024Game director Ryan Ellis shared insights into effective gameplay, highlighting the "Crew Builder" system. Players create teams of five unique Freegunners, with the ability to include up to three copies of any Variant. This allows for strategic team composition based on playstyle and match challenges. Combining Freegunners from different roles (Anchor, Breacher, Haunt, Ranger, Tactician, and Warden) unlocks special Crew Bonuses, offering advantages like increased mobility and reduced cooldowns. Unlike traditional roles, Concord's Freegunners are designed for high DPS and direct combat, with roles defined by their overall match impact.
