Capcom recently shared a pre-launch update video for Monster Hunter Wilds, covering console specifications, weapon adjustments, and more. This post summarizes the key announcements, including whether your system can run the game and other behind-the-scenes details.
They announced target performance settings for consoles. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will offer "Prioritize Graphics" (4K, 30fps) and "Prioritize Framerate" (1080p, 60fps) modes. Xbox Series S will run natively at 1080p, 30fps. A rendering bug in the framerate mode has been fixed, resulting in performance enhancements.
While enhanced visuals are promised for the PS5 Pro version, specific performance details remain undisclosed until launch.
PC performance will vary greatly based on hardware and settings. While minimum specs were previously released, the team is actively working to reduce them for broader accessibility. Further details are forthcoming closer to release. Capcom is also considering releasing a PC benchmark tool.
A second open beta test is under consideration, primarily to give those who missed the first opportunity a chance to play. Note that this potential second beta would not include the improvements discussed in the stream; those will only be available in the full release.
Other improvements mentioned include adjustments to hitstop and sound effects for a more impactful feel, reduced friendly fire, and weapon tweaks (with special attention given to the Insect Glaive, Switch Axe, and Lance).
Monster Hunter Wilds launches February 28th, 2025, on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
