CD Projekt RED has confirmed that the final update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will not arrive this year as originally scheduled. The patch has been rescheduled for 2026, although an exact release date remains unannounced.
For the time being, the studio has directed players to an FAQ detailing the functionality of the new mod support system. While the reason for the postponement hasn't been disclosed, CD Projekt RED stated that more information will be shared closer to the launch.
Despite the setback, fan response on social media has been mostly supportive. Many players voiced understanding for the developer's choice, encouraging the team to take the time needed to deliver a polished and satisfying update.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Cross-Platform Mod Support, also referred to as "One More Patch," was unveiled on May 30, 2025, marking the game's final update. This release commemorates the 10-year anniversary of the original game, launched on May 19, 2015, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Over the years, the title has seen multiple re-releases, including a Nintendo Switch version on October 15, 2019, and the Complete Edition for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on December 14, 2022—also offered as a free next-generation upgrade to existing owners.
As the title suggests, this update brings cross-platform mod support to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S via mod.io. According to CD Projekt RED's official FAQ, the update will be free, and uploading, sharing, and downloading mods through the platform will come at no extra cost to game owners. To use the new feature, players will need both a CD Projekt RED and a mod.io account.
Existing mods from other modding platforms will not be removed and will continue to work. However, not all PC mods will be compatible with consoles due to platform-specific content policies. Although the system accommodates many types of mods, those requiring scripts on consoles must be developed using The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt REDkit. Other mod types, such as texture or bundle mods, do not require REDkit.
One restriction is that mods cannot be created directly on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S. Instead, they must be built on PC using REDkit or other compatible tools before being distributed across platforms.
