Zynga, publisher of Star Wars Hunters, has announced the game's complete shutdown merely nine months after launch, canceling plans for a Steam PC version.

The free-to-play team battle arena game, developed by NaturalMotion, debuted on Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android in June 2024. IGN's Star Wars: Hunters review awarded it a 7/10, describing it as "lighthearted PvP entertainment—like a Death Star party: impressive briefly, but not somewhere you'd linger."

This assessment proved accurate when Zynga confirmed the final content update would arrive on April 15, with servers staying operational until October 1, 2025.

"While this decision may disappoint, we assure you it wasn't made lightly," Zynga stated. "Your dedication to the community has been invaluable, and we'll maintain transparency throughout the transition."

Here's the timeline: On March 25, Season 5 will extend three weeks with revived events and shop bundles. Players gain extra time to reach Kyber 1 rank.

Come April 15, the final free update releases New Support Hunter Tuya—instantly available to all—alongside additional content. In-game purchases will disable globally while ranked leaderboards and rotating battlefields continue.

Servers will permanently shut down on October 1, marking the game's end.

Notably absent from the announcement was the promised Steam Early Access version, now listed as unavailable on the platform.

The Take-Two subsidiary, known for mobile hits like FarmVille and CSR Racing, had ventured into console gaming with Hunters—simultaneously planning its maiden PC release.

"Hunters' mobile and Switch success inspired our PC expansion," explained Zynga Games EVP Yaron Leyvan last November. "This milestone fulfills fan requests while breaking new ground for our studio."

Meanwhile, upcoming Star Wars titles include Respawn's third Jedi installment and Bit Reactor's strategy game slated for Star Wars Celebration 2025.
