inZOI game director Hyungjun Kim recently unveiled plans for a unique Karma system, introducing a paranormal element to the otherwise realistic life simulator. This system will determine the fate of deceased Zois, transforming them into ghosts based on their accumulated Karma points.
High Karma Zois will transition to the afterlife, while those with insufficient points will linger as ghosts, tasked with accumulating enough Karma to move on. The specific actions required to increase Karma remain undisclosed.
Kim emphasizes a balanced approach, ensuring ghost interactions remain supplementary to the core gameplay. In the Early Access version, limited interactions with ghost Zois will be available under specific circumstances and at designated times.
Kim expressed interest in exploring more fantastical elements within inZOI's framework, stating that these paranormal additions could enhance the overall experience.
A sponsored video by MadMorph offered a sneak peek at the Karma Interaction system. This feature presents players with various choices, both positive and negative, impacting their Karma score. The video showcased a humorous example of a negative interaction (secretly farting on another Zoi), while positive actions like recycling or liking a friend's post were mentioned but not demonstrated.
While the Early Access release (March 28, 2025 on Steam) will focus on the living Zois experience, the Karma system’s full impact will be revealed in future updates.
The addition of this Karma system and the ghostly consequences promise a fascinating and unpredictable layer to inZOI's already compelling life simulation.
