R.E.P.O: Console Release Confirmed?

*R.E.P.O.*, a thrilling co-op horror game that launched in February, has captured the attention of gamers, amassing over 200,000 players on PC. But the burning question on many fans' minds is: will *R.E.P.O.* make its way to consoles?

Is R.E.P.O. Coming to Consoles?

As it stands, *R.E.P.O.* is not slated for release on consoles, and it may remain exclusive to PC indefinitely. The game's developer, semiwork, has not made any announcements hinting at a console version. Currently, their focus is on refining the game's multiplayer experience, which has encountered some challenges.

The primary hurdle they face is improving the multiplayer mechanics, crucial for a game designed around cooperative play, while preventing it from becoming a hotspot for cheaters. "The main issue with matchmaking lobbies is hackers. But the issue with an anti-cheat system is that you’re ruining the experience for everyone who has made mods, because mods don’t work with an anti-cheat system. And we don’t want that," the developer explained (via PCGamer). This issue needs resolution before any potential console port can be considered.

While other PC-exclusive games like *Mouthwashing* have transitioned to consoles, it's worth noting that *Mouthwashing* is a single-player game, which simplifies the porting process. Similarly, games like *Lethal Company* and *Content Warning*, which share *R.E.P.O.*'s premise of evading monsters, have stayed PC-only. The developers of *Content Warning* briefly considered a console release last year but cited technical difficulties, with no further updates since.

In summary, semiwork has not shown any inclination towards bringing *R.E.P.O.* to consoles and is instead concentrating on enhancing the PC version's multiplayer features.
