In a world brimming with video games, finding a truly unique experience can be challenging. My Father Lied, however, stands out with its captivating narrative. This mystery/Lovecraftian puzzle adventure offers a compelling story that sets it apart from the crowd.
The game's creation story is fascinating. Ahmed Alameen, the developer, wasn't initially aiming for a career in game development. In 2020, he was establishing himself as a writer and filmmaker. A college friend suggested a collaborative game project, but the team eventually disbanded, leaving the project unfinished.
Undeterred, Alameen pursued the idea independently. He taught himself 3D modeling and Unreal Engine, bringing his vision to life. Even the game's title resulted from a collaborative brainstorming session with his wife.
The game plunges players into a mystery steeped in ancient Mesopotamian myths, filled with secrets, puzzles, and unexpected twists. Players assume the role of Huda, a young woman grappling with a twenty-year-old question: what happened to her father? The answer, as the story unfolds, proves far from straightforward.
Drawing inspiration from 7000 years of Mesopotamian culture, My Father Lied blends ancient lore with contemporary storytelling. The puzzles are user-friendly, employing a simple point-and-click interface, complemented by stunning 2D visuals and 360-degree imagery.
My Father Lied launches officially on May 30th, 2025, for PC. Android and iOS versions are anticipated in Q3 2025. For more information, visit the official Kickstarter or Steam pages.
Currently, the game isn't available on the Play Store. It's likely the developers will focus on the mobile versions after the Steam release. Stay tuned for further updates!
