The DOOM franchise's adaptability continues to amaze, with recent experiments pushing the boundaries of playable platforms. A tech enthusiast, NyanSatan, successfully ran the original DOOM on Apple's Lightning/HDMI adapter.
This achievement leverages the adapter's unique iOS-based firmware and its processor, clocked at up to 168 MHz. NyanSatan accessed the firmware and executed the game, utilizing a MacBook for data transfer due to the adapter's lack of internal memory.
Meanwhile, news on a new DOOM iteration surfaced: DOOM: The Dark Ages. This version prioritizes accessibility, offering players extensive customization options. Players can adjust demon aggression, enemy damage, difficulty levels, projectile speed, damage intake, and even the game's overall pace and parry timing.
Executive producer Marty Stratton highlighted the focus on accessibility, stating that the studio aimed to make the game enjoyable for a broad audience. He also confirmed that prior DOOM experience isn't necessary to understand the narratives in DOOM: The Dark Ages or DOOM: Eternal.
