Deltarune Chapter 4 Nearing Completion, But Release Still Far Off

Deltarune Chapter 4 is nearing completion, but the release date remains elusive. Toby Fox, the creator of Undertale and Deltarune, recently shared a development update in his newsletter.

Fox confirmed that Chapters 3 and 4 will launch simultaneously on PC, Switch, and PS4. While Chapter 4 is largely playable, requiring only final polish, the release is still some time away. The update highlights the extensive work remaining: map completion, battle balancing, visual enhancements, and cutscene refinements are all underway. Three friends have already playtested the entire chapter with positive feedback.

The multi-platform release and localization efforts present significant challenges, especially given that this is the first major paid release since Undertale. Fox emphasizes the need for a polished product. Before the release, the team must complete several critical tasks: testing new features, finishing the PC and console versions, Japanese localization, and thorough bug testing.

Chapter 3 development is finished, and preliminary work on Chapter 5 has even begun, showcasing the team’s forward momentum. Fox's newsletter included sneak peeks: Ralsei and Rouxls dialogue, Elnina's character description, and a new item, GingerGuard.

Although the wait continues, Fox assures fans that Chapters 3 and 4 combined will be longer than Chapters 1 and 2, and that future chapter releases should be more streamlined once these two are launched. The anticipation is palpable, and while initially disappointed by the delayed release, fans are excited by the expanding scope of the game.
