The actor directly contradicted recent casting rumors during an interview with Esquire, specifically refuting Deadline's claim about his return alongside Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man.

Mixed Messages Between Co-Stars

The confusion originated when Anthony Mackie, who assumed the Captain America mantle after Endgame, revealed his agent had informed him of Evans' potential return. However, Mackie clarified Evans personally told him otherwise during their recent conversation.

"He was very clear about being happily retired from the role," Mackie recounted of their discussion.

The actor explicitly dismissed the speculation: "That report simply isn't accurate. These rumors pop up constantly since Endgame, but I'm content with my retirement from the character."
