After months of speculation and an extensive casting search, DC has officially tapped Tom Rhys Harries to portray the iconic Batman antagonist Clayface, the master of disguise, in the upcoming DC Universe standalone film.
The announcement came directly from DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn, who shared a Deadline report on Bluesky. This development marks significant progress for the project as it gradually takes shape ahead of its September 11, 2026 theatrical debut.
"Following an exhaustive worldwide casting process, we're thrilled to welcome Tom Rhys Harries as Clayface in the DCU," Gunn revealed. "Both Matt Reeves and I were completely mesmerized by his audition. Audiences won't want to miss director James Watkins' vision with Mike Flanagan's screenplay."

This role marks Harries' first venture into superhero cinema, though he's previously showcased his talents in films such as The Gentlemen and The Return, plus short films like Yellowbird and Hireth. Television audiences may also recognize him from series like White Lines and Suspicion.
The DCU's Clayface adaptation will be helmed by James Watkins (Speak No Evil) with a script by horror maestro Mike Flanagan (Midnight Mass, The Life of Chuck). With producers Lynn Harris and The Batman director Matt Reeves involved, the project promises to deliver the atmospheric tension horror enthusiasts crave as production prepares to commence.
