An exciting Easter egg for this year's A Minecraft Movie has been hidden inside the actual Minecraft game—but you'll need to track down a specific iconic enemy to uncover it.
You can now listen to A Minecraft Movie’s irresistibly catchy Steve's Lava Chicken song—or at least a new remix of it—right inside Minecraft.
The tune, performed by the ever-energetic Jack Black, became a viral clip from A Minecraft Movie. To hear it in-game, hunt down the foe responsible for another of the film’s most-memed moments: the Chicken Jockey.
As announced in Minecraft’s latest patch notes for update 1.21.93, a music disc for the Lava Chicken song—remixed in chiptune style by Hyper Potions—can now be obtained when defeating a baby Zombie riding a Chicken (Chicken Jockey).
This updated version doesn’t feature Jack Black’s vocals, but stretches the original 34-second tune into several minutes by gradually building up its dubstep influences. After listening multiple times this morning, I must report—it's somehow even more infectious than before.
Following a record-breaking box office run that earned A Minecraft Movie $955 million and the release of a singalong edition, Steve's Lava Chicken made history by becoming the shortest track ever to enter the prestigious US Billboard Hot 100 Chart.

At only 34 seconds long, the song—with its profound lyrics such as "la-la-la-lava ch-ch-ch-chicken"—was written by Black and director Jared Hess. It marks Black’s second video game movie featuring a breakout hit, following his performance of “Peaches” as Bowser in The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
Months after A Minecraft Movie left theaters, it seems there’s no escaping Steve's Lava Chicken. And of course, talks of a sequel are already in the works.
