Star Wars: Outlaws, the highly anticipated space adventure from Ubisoft, was previously confirmed for release on the Nintendo Switch 2. However, it has now been revealed that the game will not launch alongside the console when it hits shelves on June 5. Instead, Star Wars: Outlaws will arrive a few months later, with a scheduled release date of September 4.
For those who may have missed its initial launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC, Star Wars: Outlaws is set in the expansive galaxy between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The story follows Kay Vess, a small-time criminal who finds herself hunted by a powerful cartel after a job gone wrong. Our review awarded the title a score of 7, praising it as “a fun intergalactic heist adventure with excellent exploration,” though noting drawbacks such as simplistic stealth mechanics, repetitive combat, and some technical issues at launch.
While Ubisoft did not share additional details about the Nintendo Switch 2 version beyond confirming the release date, this update allows us to officially add the title to the Switch 2 Games List. With American and Canadian gamers currently in a pre-order uncertainty due to Nintendo evaluating the effects of new tariffs under the Republican administration, news like this serves as a positive distraction for eager fans.
The announcement came during a special panel at Star Wars Celebration in Japan, where Ubisoft also unveiled more information about the game’s second story expansion, Star Wars: Outlaws – A Pirate’s Fortune. In this DLC, Kay teams up with the fan-favorite pirate Hondo Ohnaka to take down Stinger Tash, the ruthless leader of the Rokana Raiders.
Star Wars: Outlaws – A Pirate’s Fortune will be available to players starting May 15, offering even more content in an already rich and immersive universe.
