Splitgate 2: The Highly Anticipated Sequel Arrives in 2025

1047 Games, the creators of the popular "Halo meets Portal" shooter Splitgate, have announced a sequel launching in 2025. This next installment promises a fresh take on the fast-paced, portal-powered arena combat that captivated players worldwide.

A Fresh Perspective on Portal Combat

Revealed through a cinematic trailer on July 18th, Splitgate 2 aims for longevity, designed to provide engaging gameplay for years to come. The developers, acknowledging the need to evolve, have refined the core portal mechanics. Their goal? To create a system where skillful portal usage is rewarded, without making it mandatory for success.

Built with Unreal Engine 5, Splitgate 2 will remain free-to-play. While retaining familiar elements, the game will boast a significantly enhanced visual experience and a new faction system.

The sequel is slated for release in 2025 on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.

New Factions, Maps, and More

The Sol Splitgate League takes center stage, introducing three distinct factions: Aeros (focused on speed), Meridian (tactical and time manipulation), and Sabrask (brute force). Each faction offers a unique playstyle, adding depth without transforming the game into a hero shooter. Expect new maps and weapons, showcased in the announcement trailer.

Gameplay details remain under wraps until Gamescom 2024 (August 21-25), but the developers assure fans the trailer accurately represents the game's visual and mechanical improvements, including the return of dual-wielding.

No Single-Player, But a Richer Lore

Splitgate 2 will not feature a single-player campaign. However, a companion mobile app will allow players to delve into the game's lore through comics, collect character cards, and even take a quiz to determine their ideal faction.
