Next month, PlayStation Plus subscribers will see 22 games removed from the service's library, including high-profile titles like Grand Theft Auto 5, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, and the last playable versions of first-party titles Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2. These removals are set to take place on May 20, 2025.
PlayStation Plus is an essential online gaming service for PlayStation platforms, offering a wide range of benefits to its members. These include free monthly games, limited-time trials, online multiplayer access, and exclusive member discounts. Additionally, Extra and Premium members have access to a catalog of hundreds of current and classic games, enhancing the gaming experience with a vast library of titles.
As highlighted by Push Square, the upcoming removal of these 22 games from the PS Plus Premium library includes two significant first-party Sony PS3 titles, Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2. This move is particularly notable because both games are no longer available for purchase on the PlayStation Store, making the PS Plus Premium streaming service the final platform for playing them—unless you own the games and a functional PS3.

The Resistance series, developed by Insomniac Games following their work on Ratchet and Clank, consists of alternate history first-person shooters. The series saw three releases on the PS3 before Insomniac shifted focus to other projects such as Marvel’s Spider-Man and new Ratchet and Clank titles. The removal of Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 less than a year after their addition to the PS Plus Premium library at the end of 2024 marks a significant loss for fans, as these titles will no longer be accessible on modern consoles.
While Sony's decision to remove first-party games from the service is rare, it's not unprecedented, as seen with the unexpected removal of both Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon: Forbidden West in August 2024. However, those games remained purchasable, unlike Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2, which are set to disappear completely from modern consoles.
Notably, Resistance 3 and Resistance: Retribution will continue to be available on the service. Additionally, the first-party PS4 game InFamous: Second Son will also be leaving PS Plus.
The Insomniac-developed Resistance series has been inactive for some time. In February, Ted Price, the founder and outgoing president of Insomniac, shared that there was a strong effort to develop Resistance 4, but the project did not move forward. Similar to Guerrilla's Killzone series, Resistance has been sidelined.
