Sims Franchise Expands: EA Unveils "Sims Labs: Town Stories"

A new Sims game is in the works, and it's available now in Australia – though it's still in its playtest phase. This isn't The Sims 5, but a mobile title called The Sims Labs: Town Stories. Part of EA's broader Sims Labs initiative, launched last August, it serves as a testing ground for new gameplay mechanics and features for the franchise.

While not yet globally available for download on Google Play, you can register your interest via EA's website. The Australian-exclusive playtest has already drawn mixed reactions. Reddit users have expressed concerns over the graphics and potential for microtransactions.

Gameplay blends classic Sims town-building with character-driven narratives. Players construct neighbourhoods, guide residents, manage careers, and uncover secrets in the town of Plumbrook. Initial footage suggests a familiar feel, hinting that this project is primarily an experimental platform for EA.
