Great news for comedy fans: the iconic duo is back! Anna Faris and Regina Hall are officially confirmed to return for Scary Movie 6.
Original franchise star and reboot writer Marlon Wayans sparked the announcement on August 15 by posting a throwback photo of the pair from the first film on his Instagram, captioning it with the eyes emoji and the letters "SM6."
Following an 18-year break, the Wayans Brothers—Marlon and Damon—are teaming up again to write the script for the sixth chapter of the hit horror spoof series, in which they also previously starred. They are co-writing the screenplay with Ricky Alvarez.
Marlon initially created the franchise with his brothers Shawn and Keenen Ivory Wayans. Keenen directed the first film in 2000 and its 2001 sequel, Scary Movie 2. David Zucker then directed the third and fourth movies, with scripts by Pat Proft, Jim Abrahams, and Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin. The fifth installment was directed by Malcolm D. Lee and written by Proft and David Zucker.
With Hall and Faris—whose brilliant comedic timing was crucial to the franchise's early-2000s success—now on board, fans are hopeful that other fan favorites like Simon Rex, Chris Elliott, and Anthony Anderson might also appear in the new film.
Scary Movie 6 will be directed by Michael Tiddes, a frequent collaborator of the Wayans Brothers who previously directed them in the parody films A Haunted House and its sequel. The movie is scheduled for release in theaters on June 12, 2026.
