Developed collaboratively by Aniplex and JOYCITY under executive producer Shinji Hashimoto (former Square Enix producer), Resident Evil Survival Unit marks the franchise's strategic mobile debut. During the July 10th announcement livestream, Hashimoto discussed the game's unique mechanics and vision.

"The pandemic horror concept with survival elements naturally lent itself to strategic gameplay," Hashimoto explained. "We chose this genre to let global players experience Resident Evil's world collectively through fresh tactical perspectives."

While honoring Resident Evil's legacy, Survival Unit presents an original parallel narrative. Series producer Masachika Kawata emphasized their careful development approach for this genre-first adaptation, calling it "a dream project bringing together beloved characters and creatures."

Parallel Timeline Connecting RE2 & RE3

Set in an alternative timeline intersecting with Resident Evil 2 and 3, the game maintains core franchise elements according to JOYCITY producer Kyle Dongkyun. Players awaken captive in Umbrella's abandoned asylum, escaping while uncovering dark secrets through strategic combat.

The Mansion Hub

The iconic Mansion serves as your tactical headquarters - preparing missions, strategizing, and trading with the Merchant. "Your choices shape unique gameplay paths," Dongkyun noted. Fan-favorite characters like Leon and Jill bring specialized skills for customizable squad building.

Yoshitaka Amano's Creature Designs

Legendary artist Yoshitaka Amano (Final Fantasy, Vampire Hunter D) designed pivotal creature "Mortem" with unsettling ambiguity: "Some mysteries should remain - I aimed for disturbing intrigue rather than full revelation."
