REPO, the viral online co-op horror game, is set to receive its first update, introducing exciting new features to enhance gameplay. Developed by Semiwork Studios, REPO allows up to six players to navigate a horror-filled world, carefully extracting and retrieving items while evading The Apex Predator—a seemingly innocuous yellow duck that transforms into a terrifying monster when disturbed. The upcoming update promises to introduce a "duck bucket" to help players trap and neutralize this menacing creature, preventing accidental activations and ensuring smoother gameplay. Along with the duck bucket, the update will bring new facial expressions and other quality-of-life improvements, enriching the player experience.

REPO's First Update Details

Duck Bucket To Fend Off The Duck

REPO’s first update will introduce a new map and the innovative "duck bucket." This tool is designed to trap the game's notorious duck, preventing it from transforming into a monster and attacking players. Semiwork Studios shared a video on YouTube on March 15, detailing these future updates. The duck bucket not only helps in keeping the duck at bay but also prevents teammates from accidentally triggering its monstrous transformation, adding a layer of strategy and teamwork to the game. Alongside the duck bucket, players can look forward to new facial expressions and other enhancements that will improve the overall gameplay experience.

New Map Called "The Museum" and Public Lobbies

In addition to the duck bucket, Semiwork Studios is introducing "The Museum," a new map designed to challenge players' parkour skills. The Museum map will feature visible borders around extraction points, making it easier for players to determine if their loot is within the extraction zone. The developers are also working on implementing public lobbies, responding to player feedback. They plan to include options for both public and private matchmaking, along with a kick button. However, they noted that adding a kick button involves complex server coding, which might delay this feature's release.

Lethal Company Creator’s Advice on REPO

Since its February release, REPO has drawn comparisons to the popular online co-op horror game, Lethal Company, due to similarities in mechanics and themes. On March 15, Lethal Company's creator, Zeekerss, shared his thoughts on REPO via a Twitter (X) post. He praised the game's fun factor but suggested improvements, such as increasing the voice chat range and reducing muffling, as well as enhancing the game's design in cramped spaces rather than vast open areas. Zeekerss also highlighted the need for in-game tutorials to explain enemy behaviors, expressing confidence that the REPO developers are likely planning such features.

REPO has quickly risen to become the second best-selling game on Steam, trailing only behind Counter-Strike 2.
