Remedy Entertainment Unveils Development Updates on Upcoming Game Titles and Publishing Strategy
Remedy Entertainment recently shared progress updates on its upcoming game lineup, including the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, Control 2, and Codename Condor, in its latest financial report. The report detailed the advancement of each project and provided insights into Remedy's overall strategic direction.
Control 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2019 hit, has achieved a significant milestone: production readiness. This means the game is now fully playable, and the development team is scaling up production efforts. This phase involves rigorous testing, performance optimization, and ensuring the game meets quality standards. Furthermore, the Control Ultimate Edition, a collaboration with Apple, is slated for release on Apple silicon Macs later this year.
Codename Condor, the Control universe multiplayer spin-off, is currently in full production. The team is actively developing multiple maps and mission types, with internal and limited external playtesting underway to gather feedback and validate features. This marks Remedy's entry into live-service gaming, and the game will utilize a "service-based fixed price" model.
Alan Wake 2's Night Springs expansion received positive critical and fan reception. The game has already recouped most of its development and marketing costs, demonstrating its strong performance. A physical Deluxe Edition will launch on October 22nd, followed by a Collector's Edition in December. Pre-orders are open on the official Alan Wake website.
The Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, a co-production with Rockstar Games, has transitioned from production readiness to full production. The team is focused on creating a complete, playable experience while emphasizing key gameplay enhancements to differentiate the remake.
Remedy emphasized the importance of the Control and Alan Wake franchises to its future. Having acquired full rights to the Control franchise from 505 Games, Remedy now has complete control over its development, publishing, and future direction.
The company is evaluating self-publishing and other models for both franchises and plans to announce its strategy by year's end. This includes exploring self-publishing options and potential partnerships to optimize long-term business prospects. Remedy highlighted its "Remedy Connected Universe," linking the Control and Alan Wake franchises, emphasizing their growth as a key part of the company's future strategy. Further announcements regarding these franchises and upcoming game developments are expected soon.
