$3,599.99 at Lenovo

The Legion Pro 7i boasts a 16" 2560x1600 240Hz OLED panel, Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor, Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 GPU, 32GB DDR5-6400MHz memory, and dual 1TB SSD storage (2TB total). The new Core Ultra 9 275HX delivers significantly better performance than its energy-efficient predecessor, the 185H, serving as a true successor to the i9-14900HX. Paired with the RTX 5080, this combination offers exceptional gaming performance.

Modern connectivity features include WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, 140W USB-C Power Delivery, Thunderbolt 4 with DisplayPort 2.1 (40Gbps), and USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports. The laptop retains practical features like an RJ45 Ethernet port and webcam privacy shutter. Its premium aluminum-magnesium chassis ensures durability without compromising weight.

Early RTX 5080 Laptop Performance Insights

While we haven't tested Lenovo's latest model yet, our experience with another RTX 5080-equipped laptop provides useful benchmarks. The RTX 5080 shows modest improvements in traditional rendering over the 4080, but excels in DLSS 4.0 with multi-frame generation support. The Gigabyte Aorus Master we tested featured identical 150W TGP and 2560x1600 resolution specs as the Legion Pro 7i, suggesting comparable gaming performance.

As noted in our Gigabyte Aorus Master 16" RTX 5080 review:

"Nvidia has clearly positioned the 50-series to leverage AI enhancements rather than raw performance gains. While native rendering shows limited improvement over the 4080, the difference becomes substantial in games supporting multi-frame generation. Though some debate the authenticity of these 'AI frames,' the performance boost is unmistakable when implemented well - with varying results depending on the game's latency handling. With upcoming technologies like neural shaders, these GPUs represent an investment in future gaming experiences, though buyers should be aware that full potential depends on ongoing developer support."
