Overwatch 2 is making a grand return to China, featuring events that let players earn rewards from Seasons 1 to 9, exclusive skins inspired by Chinese mythology, and more. The Chinese Overwatch 2 community can dive back into Future Earth on February 19, coinciding with the launch of Season 15.
Overwatch 2 recently confirmed its comeback in China, with a full relaunch scheduled for February 19. A technical test held from January 8 to 15 allowed fans to explore content they missed, including Overwatch: Classic and all six heroes introduced since the servers shut down in China during Season 2.
Following the technical test, Overwatch 2 shared exciting details for Chinese players. Game director Aaron Keller announced on Xiaohongshu (RedNote) that a multi-week Return to China celebration will feature popular in-game events and rewards missed over the past two years. Chinese players can also claim Battle Pass rewards from Seasons 1 and 2 before the relaunch, with Seasons 3 to 9 rewards available through in-game events post-launch.
Keller hinted that Season 15 will include skin bundles drawing from Chinese mythology. It remains unclear whether these skins will be new, exclusive to China, or part of a broader Chinese mythology theme for Season 15, similar to the Norse mythology-inspired cosmetics in Season 14.
Global fans won’t wait long for answers, as Season 15 kicks off on February 18, just before the China relaunch. With about a month to go, more details should emerge soon, likely with a full reveal in early February.
In the meantime, players can enjoy Min 1, Max 3 – the second 6v6 test in Overwatch 2 – from January 21 to February 4, featuring the classic 2-2-2 team setup. The Lunar New Year and Moth Meta Overwatch: Classic events are also planned before Season 15. While Chinese players may miss these, they can anticipate unique celebrations tailored for them soon.
