LEGO CEO Niels Christiansen has unveiled ambitious plans to significantly expand the company's digital footprint, venturing into the world of video game development. This expansion will involve both independent game creation and strategic partnerships.
“We are confident that, as long as we operate under the LEGO brand, we aim to create experiences for children of all ages across both digital and physical platforms. Developing games internally is something we are actively pursuing.” Niels Christiansen
This strategic shift doesn't signal an end to LEGO's established practice of licensing its brand to external developers. Recent reports, for example, indicate that TT Games, renowned for its LEGO-themed game franchises, is currently developing a new title, potentially linked to a Warner Bros. property.

LEGO's most prominent foray into gaming to date is its ongoing collaboration with Epic Games. Last year's hugely successful LEGO-themed mode in Fortnite cemented the partnership's impact and popularity.
The company also boasts a long-standing relationship with TT Games, resulting in a beloved series of adventure games spanning two decades. While new releases from TT Games have been less frequent recently, speculation points towards a new LEGO Harry Potter game, potentially inspired by the phenomenal success of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
Further highlighting LEGO's commitment to the gaming industry is its partnership with 2K Games, which yielded the release of LEGO 2K Drive, a racing game launched last year, demonstrating the brand's adaptability and reach across various gaming genres.
