inZOI Developers Responded to Questions About Explicit Content

There Will Be "Sort Of" A Sex Feature

With inZOI soon to be released for early access, fans are eager to know about the included features, particularly those related to sex and nudity. In inZOI's official Discord channel, three team leads answered fan questions during a live segment titled "Ask Me (almost) Anything," translated by inZOI Assistant Director Joel Lee.

The questions covered a range of topics from the game's realism, such as caring for babies, body size, and driving cars, but a recurring theme was explicit content, especially sex and nudity. Lee provided a safe-for-work response, stating, "Our answer is: sort of. There is a feature in the game where you obviously know what's happening; the male Zoi and the female Zoi are together, likely in bed, with the intention of creating babies. How visually apparent is that? That's where you have to use your imagination. What you're seeing is not what you're seeing; you have to assume that's what's happening. Is that clear enough for everyone? It's there. Sort of. Maybe not to the level that everyone would have been expecting."

This statement leaves some ambiguity, but it does confirm that sex will be a feature in the game. The animations and the process will be adjusted to appeal to a wider audience. Fans can expect a more realistic approach compared to the more animated and humorous style seen in The Sims.

Blurring Effects Don’t Work Well With inZOI

Players inquired about why Zois shower with their towels on, and the developers explained that pixelated blurring effects, which work well in cartoony games like The Sims, do not fit inZOI's more realistic art style. When applied, these effects felt more sexually suggestive than simply wearing a towel. Additionally, during testing, a bug caused Zois to appear fully naked in mirrors without the visual effects, which the developers have since addressed.

Making inZOI Available to All

Despite the questions about sex and nudity, inZOI has been rated T for Teen by the ESRB, similar to The Sims 4. This rating ensures the game caters to a broad audience while maintaining a safe-for-work environment. Lee emphasized the team's goal to make the game accessible to as many age groups as possible, stating, "We wanted to provide a game that was widely available to as many age groups as possible."

The developers have scheduled a live stream showcase on March 19, 2025, at 01:00 UTC on inZOI's official YouTube and Twitch channels. This event will cover early access pricing, DLC, the game's developmental roadmap, and answer additional fan questions.
