Among Android devices, Google's Pixel series stands out as one of the top choices. Introduced last year, the Pixel 9 lineup features an outstanding camera system that ranks among the best available, alongside enjoyable AI capabilities. The Pro models offer excellent value, positioning them as attractive alternatives to iPhones for cost-conscious consumers.
If you're shopping for a new smartphone, Amazon and Best Buy have reduced the Pixel 9 Pro XL to its lowest price yet. This leading device from the recent series is now cheaper than the all-time low we saw for the standard Pixel 9 last week.
This promotion is limited to the 128GB model, in Obsidian color on Amazon, while Best Buy provides three color options at the same price. It's the lowest price recorded for the Pixel 9 Pro XL since its debut last year, equaling the record low for the standard Pixel 9 at $599, and $200 below last month's top deal. An exceptional bargain on a high-end unlocked Android smartphone, ideal for those planning an upgrade.
The primary difference between the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL is the device size. The XL model includes a 6.8-inch display, slightly larger than the standard. Both incorporate the Google Tensor G4 processor and deliver solid performance.
Though we haven't covered the XL version, our specialist Mark Knapp assessed the Pixel 9 Pro upon its initial release last year. Here's a brief overview of his opinions:
The Pixel 9 Pro stands out as an excellent camera-focused device. Its sensor array and additional Pro settings provide a versatile tool for everyday snaps and deliberate shoots. Additionally, it's a dependable smartphone, offering sufficient power for routine tasks and intensive gaming. While it may not match the sheer speed of rivals like the OnePlus 12 or Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, these devices rarely falter in standard use. It would be ideal if Google's AI tools were more seamlessly integrated and prominent in the hardware, as they appear somewhat limited. However, software shortcomings don't prevent the Pixel 9 Pro from being an outstanding device overall; they merely hold it back from excellence. With superior hardware, elegant styling, and compact dimensions, it's particularly appealing for users desiring a smaller form factor with few trade-offs.
If you're planning to hold off for the upcoming Pixel generation, you'll have to be patient a bit longer. Like this year, Google is anticipated to unveil the Pixel 10 series in August or early September. Typically, these devices debut one or two months prior to the latest iPhones.
Considering that schedule, the largest reductions on Pixel 9 models are expected around July's Prime Day. Nevertheless, it's unlikely the Pixel 9 Pro XL will see prices lower than the current offer.
