Game Sequel Omitted from Xbox Game Pass

SteamWorld Heist 2's publisher recently corrected a previous announcement: the upcoming strategy game will not be included in Xbox Game Pass, despite earlier marketing materials suggesting otherwise. The game's August 8th release date remains unchanged. The developers attributed the initial Game Pass inclusion to an unintentional error in their marketing.

The initial Game Pass announcement, which appeared alongside the April trailer, has since been retracted. All related social media posts have been removed. Fortyseven, the game's PR team, confirmed the mistake, clarifying that the Game Pass logo was inadvertently added to the trailer. Despite this setback, SteamWorld Heist 2 will launch on August 8th for PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

This isn't an isolated incident; a similar error occurred recently with Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance, where a Game Pass listing was attributed to a template error.

While this news might disappoint some Xbox Game Pass subscribers, the service still offers other SteamWorld titles, including the recently added SteamWorld Dig and SteamWorld Dig 2, as well as the day-one release of SteamWorld Build last year.

To compensate for the absence of SteamWorld Heist 2, Xbox Game Pass boasts a robust July lineup with six confirmed day-one titles: Flock and Magical Delicacy (July 16th), Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn and Dungeons of Hinterberg (July 18th), Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess (July 19th), and the highly anticipated Frostpunk 2 (July 25th). Although these games vary in genre, they provide diverse options for players seeking new gaming experiences.
