Just over six months after GameStop discontinued operations in August 2024, *Game Informer* is making a triumphant return—with the full team coming back alongside it.

In a heartfelt “Letter From the Editor” penned by *Game Informer* Editor-In-Chief Matt Miller, it was announced that Gunzilla Games has acquired the rights to *Game Informer* from GameStop and plans to reinstate not only the editorial staff but also the broader production team that helped shape the brand for decades.

For those not yet familiar, Gunzilla Games is the developer and publisher behind the free-to-play extraction battle royale title *Off the Grid*, currently available in Early Access. The company is also developing GunZ, a Layer-1 blockchain platform designed to support community-driven economies within AAA games, including *Off the Grid*. Additionally, acclaimed filmmaker Neill Blomkamp—known for directing *District 9* and *Chappie*—serves as Gunzilla’s Chief Creative Officer and co-founder.

“Game Informer is back! The entire team is returning and we can't wait to reconnect. Come join us to celebrate the best in games, the people who make games, and the players around the world.”

The official announcement tweet from *Game Informer* confirmed their relaunch, signaling an exciting new chapter ahead for the beloved gaming media outlet.

According to Miller, Gunzilla Games was adamant about preserving *Game Informer*'s independence. “They insisted on the idea of *Game Informer* remaining an independent editorial outlet,” he explained. “They felt just as strongly as our team did that the only path forward was with an editorial group that made 100 percent of the decisions around what we cover and how we do so, without any influence from them or anyone else.”

As part of this revival, *Game Informer* is now operating under a newly formed entity known as *Game Informer Inc.* The site's more than 30-year legacy has officially been restored following its disappearance last August. The editorial team has worked hard to ensure there was no gap in coverage, preparing dozens of reviews for titles released during their hiatus, along with their comprehensive Best of 2024 awards lineup.

Excitingly, *Game Informer*'s iconic print magazine will also be returning, though at a later date. Miller emphasized that the team is committed to delivering something even better than before. In the near future, the site will introduce membership and subscription perks, expanded video and streaming content, enhanced feature coverage, and a broader range of expert voices and strategic partnerships.
