The iconic strategy game, *ROME: Total War*, has just received a significant free update on Android, courtesy of Feral Interactive. The Imperium Update introduces a host of gameplay enhancements, refined controls, and quality-of-life improvements that elevate your gaming experience. If you've been playing this classic since its Android debut in 2018, you're in for a treat with these fresh updates. Fans of the standalone expansions, *Barbarian Invasion* and *Alexander*, will also see these improvements next week.
The Imperium Update enriches *ROME: Total War* by integrating some of the standout features from Feral's newer mobile titles, such as *Total War: MEDIEVAL II* and *EMPIRE*. Players can now enjoy three new control options: Positioning Mode, Melee Mode, and Automatic Deselection, which enhance unit command and battle precision. With these modes, you can easily move your army, agents, or fleets by simply tapping and holding, eliminating the need for manual path dragging.
Positioning Mode allows for meticulous unit placement with a tap-and-hold mechanism, while the Group Grid feature simplifies unit group management through a collapsible selection menu. Melee Mode enables ranged units to seamlessly transition to close combat when the situation demands it.
A major highlight of the update is the Command Slowdown feature, which automatically reduces game speed when you're issuing complex orders, making it easier to manage your strategies. Additionally, for the first time, *ROME: Total War* on Android (and iPad) now supports keyboard and mouse, offering a more familiar control scheme for some players.
The minimap has been revamped to resemble the one in *MEDIEVAL II*, featuring smoother zooming and navigation. A new reset button allows for quick returns to the default view, enhancing user experience.
The Imperium Update is now available for *ROME: Total War* on Android, and you can download it directly from the Google Play Store. Keep an eye out for the updates coming to *Barbarian Invasion* and *Alexander* next week.
