Dark Descent: Event Horizon Prequel Film Set

Nearly three decades after its theatrical debut, Paul W.S. Anderson's cult classic Event Horizon is finally receiving a prequel. IDW Publishing has announced Event Horizon: Dark Descent, a five-issue comic book series that delves into the events preceding the film, uncovering the mysterious fate of the original crew aboard the Event Horizon starship.

Penned by Christian Ward (Batman: City of Madness) and illustrated by Tristan Jones (Aliens: Defiance), Dark Descent features coloring by Pip Martin (That Texas Blood) and cover art contributions from Ward, Jeffrey Alan Love, Martin Simmonds, and Joshua Hixson.

IDW's official synopsis for Event Horizon: Dark Descent reads:

Embracing the film's hard-R rating, EVENT HORIZON: DARK DESCENT #1 (of 5 issues) will warp into comic shops this August. Set before the movie's events and fully accessible to newcomers, this series reveals the harrowing final chapter of the Event Horizon's initial crew. Discover the true horrors faced by Captain Kilpack and his team as their vessel traversed unimaginable nightmare dimensions. Abandon all hope as demonic forces—commanded by Paimon, the eyeless King of Hell—unleash pure agony and evil upon the crew in this gripping narrative.
