"The Two Embers: Part One Unveils Sky: Children of the Light

As a dedicated fan of thatgamecompany's Sky: Children of the Light, I'm thrilled about their latest venture into storytelling with their first-ever in-game animated feature, The Two Embers. This project marks a significant milestone for thatgamecompany, showcasing their commitment to pushing the boundaries of interactive entertainment. The premiere of The Two Embers: Part One is scheduled for an exclusive, limited in-game screening starting July 21st, offering a silent animated exploration of Sky's origin story.

A Bit More About the Story

The Two Embers is structured in two parts, with Part One delving into the poignant journeys of two children, separated by time yet bound by profound connections. The narrative begins in The Ruler's City, a once-vibrant locale now teetering on the brink of collapse. Here, a young orphan stumbles upon a wounded baby manatee, sparking a tale that weaves themes of grief, solitude, and the power of small acts of kindness. As the child navigates these emotions, the Ruler observes from above, witnessing the encroaching darkness over their fading kingdom.

Without any dialogue or voiceovers, The Two Embers relies solely on its compelling visuals, evocative music, and raw emotion to convey the child's journey through grief, with the manatee symbolizing a beacon of hope amidst despair.

Sky: Children of the Light has released the first look at The Two Embers: Part One. You can watch the trailer right here!

Each week, a new chapter of the film will be unlocked within Sky Cinema, a specially designed in-game movie theater. Alongside these screenings, new in-game content related to each chapter will become available, allowing players to dive deeper into the story through interactive gameplay.

A Unique Way of Releasing an Animated Feature Within a Game

By choosing to release The Two Embers within Sky rather than as a standalone film or on a streaming platform, thatgamecompany is pioneering a novel approach to storytelling. This method not only enhances the game's immersive experience but also elevates it into a multifaceted entertainment platform. Alongside this ambitious project, the game is also preparing for Aurora's concert, further expanding its universe.

The film is a collaborative effort between Light & Realm, thatgamecompany, Illusorium Studios, and Orchid, marking what might be the most audacious step in transmedia storytelling thatgamecompany has taken to date.
