At SXSW 2025 in Austin, TX, Hideo Kojima unveiled an epic new trailer for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and officially announced its release date.
Death Stranding 2 arrives exclusively on PlayStation 5 on June 26, 2025. Players who purchase the Digital Deluxe or Collector's Edition will receive two days of early access, starting June 24.
The 10-minute trailer, featured below, blends cinematics with gameplay and spotlights a character drawing widespread comparisons to Snake from Kojima's iconic Metal Gear series.
Played by Italian actor Luca Marinelli, the character—named Neil—is seen donning a bandana reminiscent of Snake and commanding a squad of unsettling soldiers while armed with an assault rifle.

The trailer's Metal Gear atmosphere deepens with the Magellan Man, a massive tar-like entity fused with the DHV Magellan, evoking the design of Metal Gear Rex. A 15" statue of the Magellan Man is included in the Collector's Edition. The creature appears to be piloted like a Pacific Rim-style mech, confronting colossal and unnerving tar monsters.

The standard edition of Death Stranding 2 is priced at $69.99. The Collector's Edition retails for $229.99, while the Digital Deluxe Edition costs $79.99. Pre-orders open on March 17.
Continuing the narrative of 2019's Death Stranding, Death Stranding 2 poses the thematic question: "Should We Have Connected?" Here is the official description:
