DC Comics announces Superman Unlimited, a fresh monthly series debuting in May 2025 that marks the return of one of Marvel's top writers to DC's creative roster.
This new Superman venture will be penned by Dan Slott, renowned for his acclaimed Marvel runs on titles including The Amazing Spider-Man, She-Hulk, and Fantastic Four. Though Slott previously contributed to DC projects like Arkham Asylum: Living Hell and Batman Adventures early in his career, he's remained Marvel-exclusive for twenty years - until now.

The creative team pairs Slott with American Vampire illustrator Rafael Albuquerque and colorist Marcelo Maiolo.
"Superman represents the pinnacle of superheroes, and I've waited my entire career for this opportunity," Slott shared in an official statement. "Beyond his incredible powers, it's his fundamental humanity that makes him compelling. Rafael and I are crafting a Superman experience that will excite both lifelong fans and new readers alike - packed with fresh takes on familiar characters and unexpected new developments in Superman's world."
Superman Unlimited introduces a dramatic new paradigm for the Last Son of Krypton. When a Kryptonite meteor storm blankets Earth, Superman's enemies gain access to weapons powered by his greatest vulnerability. Simultaneously, Clark Kent faces corporate upheaval at the Daily Planet as it merges with Morgan Edge's Galaxy Communications media empire.
DC Group Editor Paul Kaminski drew comparisons to landmark Superman stories: "Superman Unlimited evolves DC's Superman mythos similarly to how Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness' Superman/Batman did decades ago. We're presenting Superman in his classic, heroic mode while confronting him with unprecedented challenges - imagine criminals armed with Kryptonite as common as handguns."
Kaminski continued: "While Justice League Unlimited expands our heroic landscape, Superman Unlimited explores the opposite - a world where villains wield unlimited power through Kryptonite weaponry. Slott's visionary storytelling paired with Albuquerque's stunning visuals will redefine Superman for 2025."

The creative team will preview their approach with a 10-page story in the DC All In 2025 Free Comic Book Day Special on May 3, 2025, followed by Superman Unlimited #1's full launch on May 21 - strategically timed ahead of James Gunn's Superman film debut on July 11.
