Both characters appear suspicious, yet there's a clear choice that simplifies the quest significantly.
Should You Confront Wakasa or Otama in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?
After the tea ceremony in *Assassin’s Creed Shadows*, the best course of action is to confront Wakasa. She is the Golden Teppo of the Onryo, and identifying her correctly leads to the easiest way to eliminate her. When you confront Wakasa, she will invite Naoe to her home for a private discussion. Upon entering, you'll notice a kasa (straw hat) from the prologue, confirming your choice. After some dialogue, Naoe can swiftly end the mission by taking Wakasa's Teppo from the wall and shooting her point-blank.

What If You Confront Otama in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?
Choosing to confront Otama after the tea ceremony still allows you to kill Wakasa, but it complicates the mission. By mistakenly targeting Otama, Naoe will chase and kill her, only to find a letter revealing Otama's corruption. However, this delay gives Wakasa time to fortify herself in Osaka Castle with her soldiers.
To reach Wakasa, you must travel to Osaka Castle, either fighting her soldiers or sneaking past them. Even if you manage to sneak up on Wakasa, a direct confrontation is inevitable. While the boss fight isn't overly challenging, confronting Wakasa directly from the start avoids unnecessary complications and offers a more satisfying cinematic kill, especially considering her role in Naoe's father's death.
