Developed by the French studio Sandfall Interactive, Clair Obscur is a turn-based RPG with real-time elements integrated into its combat system. Set in a dark fantasy world, the game revolves around the Paintress, a powerful being who, once a year, paints a number on her monolith, causing everyone of that age to vanish. As the game begins, the Paintress is about to wake and paint the number 33. You take on the role of Expedition 33, a group of 33-year-olds determined to stop her.
The combat system is a highlight, blending traditional turn-based mechanics with dynamic actions like dodging, parrying, and countering. Players can also chain combos by timing button presses and use a free-aim system to target enemy weaknesses. For a deeper dive, check out our Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 preview.
