Back in 1995, Chrono Trigger made its debut on the Super Famicom, quickly becoming a landmark title in gaming history. Celebrating three decades of influence and charm, Square Enix recently shared news of the anniversary via its official X (Twitter) account, describing the game as a “masterpiece that transcends generations.” Indeed, Chrono Trigger was a dream collaboration between some of the biggest names in entertainment: Yuji Horii (creator of Dragon Quest), Akira Toriyama (legendary artist behind Dragon Ball), and Hironobu Sakaguchi (father of the Final Fantasy series).

In a statement (translated by Gematsu), Square Enix revealed, “To mark the 30th anniversary and to express our gratitude to everyone who has played Chrono Trigger so far, we are planning a variety of projects over the next year that will go beyond the world of the game.” While exact details remain under wraps for now, fans are encouraged to follow the official Square Enix and ChronoTriggerPR accounts on X for future updates.
