Marvel Comics is set to launch a brand-new monthly *Captain America* series, redefining the legacy of Steve Rogers with an all-new creative team and fresh narrative perspective. This upcoming run will delve into Cap’s formative experiences after being thawed from suspended animation, offering readers a deeper look at how he adapted to the modern world while staying true to his core values.

The new series is written by acclaimed writer Chip Zdarsky (*Daredevil*, *Batman*) and brought to life visually by artist Valerio Schiti (*G.O.D.S.*, *The Avengers*), with color art by Frank D'Armata. The trio previously worked together on *Marvel 2-in-One*, delivering emotionally rich storytelling paired with stunning visuals—setting high expectations for this new chapter in Captain America's comic book history.

The story kicks off shortly after Steve Rogers is discovered and revived in the present-day Marvel Universe. Eager to continue serving, he reenlists in the U.S. Army, and his first mission sees him joining forces with the Howling Commandos to infiltrate Latveria—a nation recently seized by a young and power-hungry Doctor Doom. This early storyline sets the stage for future arcs, with the series eventually transitioning into current Marvel continuity while carrying forward the emotional and thematic impact of its opening act.

Creative Vision Behind the New Captain America Series

“I’ve been a massive *Captain America* fan for decades. I loved writing the grizzled, older Cap in *Avengers: Twilight*, so getting to write the actual *Captain America* title feels like a dream!” said Zdarsky. “We’re exploring Cap’s early days in the modern era with a twist that I think is going to really surprise readers! I’m pretty excited to get this out there in the world, especially with Valerio and Frank’s amazing art!”

Zdarsky further explained his approach: “I’ve been approaching this title the way I approached my run on *Daredevil*—really trying to get inside Cap’s head with a grounded, human look at who he is in this new world. Steve Rogers is the best of us, and I want that to come through on every page.”

“*Captain America* is one of my all-time favorites,” added Valerio Schiti. “I'm reuniting with Chip Zdarsky and Frank D'Armata after the amazing experience of *Marvel 2-In-One*, and I'm working on a story that strikes the perfect balance between heart, action, and entertainment! But the thing that is most exciting and unexpected is that I found myself thinking more and more about Steve Rogers, instead of just Captain America.”

Schiti continued: “Chip's script is so clever and compelling that I’m sure readers will be dragged along with us into Steve's heart and soul. He’s a man who became the living embodiment of truth, justice, and freedom. He fought a war against Nazism, ‘died’ in that war, and came back to life to do his duty and fight again. That’s a lot of pressure—and if you do the math, he’s only in his late twenties during the era we’re exploring!”
