In late January, a video emerged online demonstrating a tool that hackers use to remove players from matches in Black Ops 6. The footage was captured during the Black Ops 6 multiplayer beta, according to Activision's statement responding to the video.

Activision confirmed that the vulnerability shown in the video was patched before Black Ops 6's official release in November. The team continuously investigates reports of such utilities, emphasizing that the video does not represent the current state of the game.

Despite Activision's claims, players argue that hackers are still exploiting the utility. A video was presented as evidence, showing the program in use during a match on the Nuketown map, which was introduced to Black Ops 6 a week post-launch.

According to Circana analysts, Black Ops 6 topped the sales charts in the US last year, continuing the Call of Duty franchise's reign as the best-selling game series in the United States for 16 consecutive years. Meanwhile, EA Sports College Football 25, released on consoles in July, emerged as the most-played sports game in the country.

In 2024, U.S. gamers' overall spending saw a 1.1% decrease from the previous year. Circana attributes this decline to reduced hardware demand, although spending on add-ons and services increased by 2% and 6%, respectively. The second season of Black Ops 6 and Warzone 2, featuring a ninja theme and a crossover with the "Terminator" universe, is set to launch on January 28.
