Black Myth: Wukong Hits Xbox Series X/S August 20

Black Myth: Wukong, the action RPG based on the classic Chinese novel 'Journey to the West,' is finally launching on Xbox Series X/S on August 20, 2025—exactly one year after its release on PS5 and PC.

Xbox announced the news via Twitter/X, stating, "You are the Destined One. Black Myth: Wukong arrives August 20. Pre-orders open June 18!"

Black Myth: Wukong has been a massive success, selling over 25 million copies as of January 31, 2025. However, its absence on Xbox Series X/S has been notable, especially since it wasn't marketed as a true exclusive.

Some sources suggested the delay resulted from a Sony exclusivity agreement rather than technical issues, but Fen Ji, head of developer Game Science, reportedly pointed to the Xbox Series S as the problem.

"The Xbox version is the only thing missing, which feels a little off," he was quoted as saying via machine translation, "but that 10GB of shared memory is tough to optimize without years of experience."

Now, those challenges appear to have been overcome, allowing Xbox players to add the title to their collections soon.
