The first story arc is available for pre-order on Amazon and will be released on August 5. The second arc began with issue #7, featuring a new version of Mr. Freeze, and issue #9 is now on sale. This issue kicks off a reimagined take on the classic villain Bane. While he retains his hulking luchador physique and Venom enhancements, his motivations are new, and he shares an intriguing connection to Alfred Pennyworth.

IGN recently spoke with Absolute Batman's creative team, writer Scott Snyder and artist Nick Dragotta. In the interview, they discussed Bane's imposing physical presence and formidable intellect. “The one thing I'll say about Bane is he's genuinely huge. That's it,” Snyder noted. “Some people speculated he might be smaller. He isn't. We wanted a character whose silhouette makes Bruce Wayne's look smaller by comparison.” Absolute Batman #9 also debuts this universe's versions of Dick Grayson—who is not yet Robin or Nightwing—and Deathstroke.
