Call of Duty: Warzone players are experiencing game freezes and crashes during loading screens, sometimes resulting in unfair penalties. While a permanent fix is still under development, developers have implemented a temporary solution.
The Problem: Warzone players reported widespread game freezes and crashes while loading into matches, beginning in early January 2025. This issue, initially unresolved, caused frustration due to resulting skill rating (SR) penalties and temporary match bans.
The Temporary Fix: In response to player complaints, Raven Software temporarily suspended SR penalties and timeouts for players disconnecting before joining Ranked matches. This addresses the unfair penalties caused by the unforeseen crashes. Penalties remain in effect for players who leave matches in progress.
The Ongoing Situation: This latest issue adds to a string of recent challenges for Warzone, including previous server outages and ongoing concerns about cheating and bugs. Despite a major update in early January 2025, these problems persist. While the temporary fix alleviates immediate frustration, players eagerly await a complete resolution to the loading screen crash issue. The developer, Raven Software, is actively working on a permanent fix.
