Sydney Sweeney, known for her role in Madame Web, is set to star in the upcoming movie adaptation of Hazelight's hit game, Split Fiction. The film is being directed by Jon M. Chu, famous for Wicked, with the screenplay penned by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the writers behind Deadpool & Wolverine. Story Kitchen, the production company behind the successful Sonic films, is currently shopping this promising talent package to Hollywood studios, anticipating a competitive bidding war.

While it's confirmed that Sweeney will be part of the Split Fiction film, her specific role—whether she will portray Zoe or Mio—remains undecided.

Split Fiction, which launched in March, has already achieved remarkable success, selling over 2 million copies within its first week. The game, designed by Josef Fares, has also been announced as a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2. IGN's review praised Split Fiction, awarding it a 9/10 and describing it as "an expertly crafted co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another, [ttpp]Split Fiction[ttpp] is a rollercoaster of constantly refreshed gameplay ideas and styles – and one that’s very hard to walk away from.”

In addition to Split Fiction, another Hazelight title, It Takes Two, which sold 23 million copies, is also being adapted into a film, with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson potentially starring.

While there's always a chance that these adaptations may not come to fruition, the current success of video game adaptations in Hollywood suggests a strong likelihood of these projects moving forward.

Story Kitchen, which announced a film adaptation of Square Enix's Just Cause last year, directed by Ángel Manuel Soto of Blue Beetle fame, is also working on adaptations of Dredge: The Movie, Kingmakers, Sleeping Dogs, and even a live-action Toys 'R' Us movie.

Meanwhile, Hazelight is already teasing its next game, continuing to build on its impressive track record in the gaming industry.
