Ubisoft confirmed the Rainbow Six Siege X Closed Beta will run from March 13 (12 PM PT/3 PM ET/8 PM CET) until March 19, immediately following the R6 Siege X Showcase event.
Players can earn Closed Beta access by watching the official Showcase stream on Rainbow Six's Twitch channel or participating creator broadcasts to claim Twitch drops. The beta includes the Dual Front mode and will be playable on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Ubisoft Support acknowledged current distribution issues with beta access codes via email as of March 14, confirming they're resolving these delivery problems promptly.
Notably, Siege X represents a transformative update rather than a standalone sequel, bringing comprehensive visual and technical improvements to the existing game.

Dual Front introduces groundbreaking 6v6 tactical combat featuring simultaneous attack/defend gameplay. Ubisoft describes this mode as combining core mechanic upgrades – including enhanced visuals, revamped audio, and improved rappelling – with new player protection systems.
The battles unfold on District, a brand-new map where teams must simultaneously assault enemy positions while defending their territory. This innovative design enables unprecedented gadget synergies and tactical possibilities.
Traditional Siege gameplay remains available as "Core Siege," featuring five remastered maps (Clubhouse, Chalet, Border, Bank, and Kafe) with upgraded textures, optional 4K assets on PC, and improved destruction physics. Three additional maps will receive modernization updates each season.

After a decade, Rainbow Six Siege will adopt a free-to-play model aligning with industry trends. Game Director Alexander Karpazis explained this change lowers barriers for new players while preserving competitive integrity.
"We want players to experience Siege's unique tactical depth with their friends," Karpazis stated during the Atlanta showcase. Free access includes Unranked, Quick Play, and Dual Front modes, while Ranked and Siege Cup remain premium features to deter smurfing.
The developer team maintains this hybrid approach balances accessibility with competitive fairness. "It creates the best scenario – welcoming newcomers while keeping our veteran community engaged," Karpazis added.

Despite industry trends toward sequels like Overwatch 2, Ubisoft never considered developing Rainbow Six Siege 2. Karpazis emphasized their commitment to evolving the original game through Siege X's three-year development.
"Creating Siege 2 was never our plan," Karpazis noted. "This update demonstrates our vision for Siege's next decade while honoring our loyal community."
Siege X represents Ubisoft's long-term investment in its tactical shooter, combining major gameplay innovations with technical enhancements. The full update launches June 10, 2025 across all current-generation consoles and PC.
