Minecraft Live 2025 Unveils: Vibrant Visuals, Flying Ghast, Key Announcements

Minecraft Live 2025 has concluded, and Mojang has unveiled an exciting array of updates and new content for the iconic video game. The first game drop of the year, dubbed "Spring to Life," is set to launch on March 25. This update will breathe new life into the Overworld, making biomes more immersive with features like new variants for cows, pigs, and chickens, alongside captivating ambient additions such as the glittering firefly bush, falling leaves, and the whispers of sand.

The second game drop, though yet unnamed, promises intriguing additions including the Dried Ghast block. This block, when rehydrated, transforms into a Ghastling, a smaller, baby version of the Ghast. Further nurturing leads to the emergence of the Happy Ghast, a new mob variant that can be harnessed to fly, accommodating up to four players at once.

A significant visual upgrade, 'Vibrant Visuals,' was also introduced at Minecraft Live 2025. Described as the first step towards a transformative visual experience, this update aims to enhance the visual appeal of Minecraft without altering gameplay. In other exciting news, Mojang shared a sneak peek of the upcoming "A Minecraft Movie" and announced a movie-themed in-game live event, set to start on March 25. This event will take place in Midport Village, where players can join forces with Steve and his movie companions to defend the village from a piglin attack through three engaging mini-games. The event runs from March 25 to April 7, with participants able to earn the coveted Yearn cape upon completing all challenges.

During our visit to Mojang's offices in Sweden, we learned more about the studio's philosophy. Mojang has no plans to create a Minecraft 2, shift to a free-to-play model, or incorporate generative AI into game development.
