Experience the nostalgia of classic couch co-op gaming with Minecraft! This guide shows you how to enjoy split-screen Minecraft on your Xbox One or other compatible console. Gather your friends, prepare the snacks, and let's get started.

Important Considerations:

Minecraft split-screen is a console-exclusive feature. PC players are unfortunately out of luck. You'll need a console (Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo Switch) and an HD (720p) compatible TV or monitor. Ensure your console also supports 720p resolution. HDMI connection automatically sets the resolution; VGA may require manual adjustment in your console's settings.

Local Split-Screen Gameplay (Up to 4 Players):

  1. Connect your console: Use an HDMI cable for optimal results.
  2. Launch Minecraft: Create a new world or load an existing one. Crucially, disable multiplayer in the game settings.
  3. Configure your world: Choose difficulty, settings, and world parameters as desired.
  4. Start the game: Once loaded, activate additional player slots. This is usually done by pressing the "Options" button twice on PlayStation or the "Start" button on Xbox (consult your console's instructions if different).
  5. Sign in: Each player logs into their account to join the game. The screen will automatically split into sections (2-4 players).
  6. Enjoy!

Online Multiplayer with Local Split-Screen:

While you can't directly split-screen with online players, you can play locally with split-screen and then invite additional online friends. Follow the steps above, but enable multiplayer in the game settings before starting. Send invitations to your remote friends once the game is running.
