Metro 2033: A Walkthrough for the Cursed Station Mission

Despite its age, Metro 2033 remains a fan favorite, experiencing a resurgence in popularity thanks to Metro Awakening. This guide focuses on the challenging "Cursed" mission in the game's early stages, set within Moscow's subterranean tunnels. The mission, taking place at Turgenevskaya station (as it's known in the books and real life), can be confusing due to unclear objectives and the station's layout. Following the anomaly event, Khan leads you to the next station via railcar, initiating the "Cursed" mission upon arrival.

Locating the Bomb

After speaking with the defenders at the barricaded escalators, you learn an explosives crew attempted to collapse the tunnel to stop the nosalis attacks but went missing. Your task: find and detonate the bomb. Expect continuous nosalis attacks; retreat to the defenders for support if overwhelmed. The bomb is located at the far end of the right-hand tunnel. Avoid the ghostly shadows to avoid damage. Once you have the bomb, either proceed to the adjacent tunnel or retreat if necessary.

Destroying the Tunnel

To detonate the bomb, enter the left-hand tunnel (from the defenders' perspective) and wait for the cutscene. Artyom automatically plants and lights the fuse; escape immediately to avoid the blast. Alternatively, a grenade or pipe bomb in the same area will also collapse the tunnel. Note: nosalises will still infiltrate via other routes.

Securing the Airlock

A final objective involves destroying an airlock. Ascend the stairs to the right of the main platform (in the torchlit area). Ignore any nosalises and interact with the support columns to plant a pipe bomb. Evacuate immediately after lighting the fuse. With both entrances sealed, proceed with Khan to a shrine room and descend through a floor panel, initiating the "Armory" mission.
