Keanu Reeves has given fans the most exciting update yet regarding the long-awaited sequel to the 2005 cult hit, "Constantine." The actor, who portrayed the iconic occult detective and exorcist John Constantine, recently shared that a script for "Constantine 2" is now in the works. Following his success with "The Matrix," Reeves took on the role of Constantine in the DC Comics adaptation, and for the past two decades, fans and Reeves himself have been eager for a sequel.
In a significant development, Reeves confirmed that he and his team pitched a story to DC Studios, which has been greenlit for script development. "We've been trying to make this film for over a decade, and we just recently put a story together and pitched it to DC Studios and they said, ‘Okay,’" Reeves revealed to Inverse. "So, we're going to try and write a script."

While this news is promising, it's important to note that "Constantine 2" is not yet a confirmed project within the rebooted DCU, and it has not been directly mentioned by DC Studios co-chiefs James Gunn and Peter Safran. Therefore, the project remains on the edge of realization.
Reeves also hinted that if "Constantine 2" comes to fruition, it will continue in "the same world" as the original film. He playfully added, "We're not going off that. John Constantine's going to be tortured even more."
Adding to the excitement, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura recently shared that the script for "Constantine 2" is already in his inbox. Speaking to ComicBook, di Bonaventura admitted, "You know it's in my inbox right now, funny enough. I'm too scared to read it, though, I want it to be good so bad. I’ll probably read it in the next few days, when I get on an airplane."
