How to Start the Hermit Quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

The Hermit quest automatically unlocks upon completing several quests for Radovan in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*. After retrieving his lost cart, report back to him. He'll then reveal his desire to forge a wedding gift, initiating the Hermit questline. Before confronting the hermit, however, you must gather information from the villagers of Troskowitz.

Get Information About the Hermit

First, visit the Troskowitz tavern and speak extensively with Innkeeper Betty. Then, talk to other villagers—the alehouse maid and general trader are good starting points—to gather more details.

Talk to Gerda and Stanislav

Next, speak with Gerda in Troskowitz; she witnessed a relevant apparition. You can either pay her a small sum of Groschen or attempt a dialogue check to obtain information. Afterwards, travel to Apollonia and speak with Stanislav. Again, a dialogue check or Groschen will unlock his knowledge.

Gather Evidence

With the information gathered, it's time to find physical evidence. Locate the cross Gerda mentioned and dig up the grave (you'll need a spade; purchase one from the Troskowitz trader or find one in a cemetery). You'll uncover Groschen and documents relating to the Knights of the Cross. Examine the documents and then investigate the quest marker in Apollonia. You'll find a hut and a clearing with a black horse; examine the horse for your next clue.

Talk to the Hermit

Proceed to the hermit's hut. Without evidence, he won't cooperate. However, armed with your findings, he'll become more forthcoming. During conversation, select the options: "You're suspicious," exhaust all dialogue options about the clues, and then "Out with it!" He'll reveal his true identity as Konrad. Before giving up the sword, he tasks you with delivering a cross to a widow named Margaret.

Go to the cemetery near Apollonia, speak with Margaret, and give her the cross. This begins the optional "Sinful Soul" quest, which involves helping her bury Ambrose. You can return to Konrad immediately if desired.

Help Konrad or Kill Him

Returning to the hermit's hut, you'll find Crusaders present. You can choose to help the Crusaders kill Konrad or aid his escape. If you approach cautiously, Konrad will talk. After completing his request, you can choose to help or kill him.

After killing Konrad (which is often easier than fighting the Crusaders), speak with the Crusaders and offer to return the documents for Groschen.

Get the Hermit’s Sword

Finally, north of the hut, find two tangled oak trees. The hermit's sword is lodged in the ground. Retrieve it and return to Radovan in Tachov to complete the quest.
