Pocket Gamer recently discovered Dynabytes' Fantasma at Gamescom Latam – a multiplayer augmented reality (AR) GPS adventure game. This exciting title recently received an update adding Japanese, Korean, Malay, and Portuguese language support, with German, Italian, and Spanish planned for release in the coming months.
But what exactly is Fantasma? Players hunt and battle mischievous creatures by strategically deploying portable electromagnetic fields (think bait, but less…fishy).
Once a creature is lured, the AR battle begins! Players maneuver their phones, keeping the Fantasma in view while tapping the screen to fire projectiles. Defeated Fantasmas are then captured in special bottles.
These creatures appear based on your real-world location, encouraging exploration. However, deployable sensors increase your detection range, bringing Fantasmas closer. Cooperative gameplay is also supported, allowing players to team up.
Fantasma is free-to-play (with in-app purchases) and available now on the App Store and Google Play. Download it today! For more AR gaming options, check out our list of the best AR games for iOS.
