It appears that photos of ASUS' Xbox-branded handheld device, codenamed Project Kennan, have surfaced online. As initially reported by 91mobiles and highlighted by Eurogamer, images of the ASUS ROG Ally 2 in both white and black variants have been leaked, reportedly originating from the Indonesian certification office and linked to a now-deleted FCC listing in the U.S.
Both versions feature Xbox-style button configurations (Y, B, A, and X), distinct from the layouts of PlayStation and Nintendo. The black model is particularly notable for displaying a clear Xbox button next to the thumbstick, albeit without the traditional 'X' logo. While the complete tech specs remain unclear, it's uncertain whether there are significant differences between the two color variants.
According to Windows Central's Jez Corden, these devices are currently undergoing open testing at Microsoft's headquarters, hinting at a potential reveal around May 20.

Last month, ASUS Republic of Gamers' X/Twitter account teased both a Republic of Gamers (ROG) Xbox controller and a handheld system. The official Xbox account responded with a playful wide-eyed gif, hinting at an upcoming official reveal.
This development aligns with an earlier IGN report on Microsoft's gaming hardware plans, which mentioned a next-gen Xbox for 2027 and an Xbox-branded gaming handheld potentially launching later in 2025.
While the ASUS ROG Ally 2 is not a Microsoft-made console, Microsoft reportedly plans to release its own first-party Xbox handheld in 2027, as indicated by Microsoft gaming boss Phil Spencer. Additionally, the successor to the Xbox Series X is said to be in full production, expected to launch in two years, in line with Xbox president Sarah Bond's statement about Microsoft's focus on delivering a significant technological leap in the next generation of hardware.
