Zenless Zone Zero 1.5 Leak Hints at Fall Guys-Style Platformer Event

A recent leak suggests Zenless Zone Zero's Version 1.5 update will feature a new event incorporating a multiplayer platformer game mode, similar to Fall Guys. This temporary event, potentially titled "Grand Marcel," is anticipated to arrive alongside the already announced characters Astra Yao and Evelyn, and other content, in late January.

Version 1.4, released in December, introduced two new playable characters and an S-Rank Bangboo, along with two permanent battle-focused modes. However, Zenless Zone Zero has a history of introducing temporary, event-specific game modes offering unique gameplay experiences, such as the current "Bangboo vs Ethereal" tower defense event.

Leaker Palito shared screenshots showcasing stages strongly reminiscent of Fall Guys, indicating a multiplayer platformer experience. While the leak suggests this mode will be exclusive to the "Grand Marcel" event, the playable character remains unclear – whether players will use their standard characters or Bangboo remains to be seen. The event is expected to offer rewards including Polychromes, complementing the rumored additional free pulls for Version 1.5.

A Familiar Formula?

The inclusion of a platformer mode isn't unprecedented for developer HoYoverse. Honkai Impact 3rd's 6.1 update in 2022 featured a similar "Midnight Chronicle" event with Fall Guys-style stages using chibi character versions. This precedent suggests a similar approach might be used in Zenless Zone Zero, potentially featuring chibi versions of existing characters or, given the Bangboo's popularity, even playable Bangboo. While Bangboo are currently playable in modes like Hollow Zero, increased opportunities to play as them are highly requested by the community.

Version 1.5, slated for January 22nd, will also introduce Astra Yao and Evelyn. Previous leaks hinted at Nicole's first character skin and a potential Agent Story for Ellen. The addition of a fun, temporary platformer mode alongside this substantial content update promises a diverse and engaging experience for players.
